Evaluation

Overall the sequence from our short film turned out well. The shooting lasted only a single day which meant that things such as weather and clothing would remain easily consistent throughout the sequence and scheduling people to shoot would have been easier. We also shot all the scenes multiple times, this was due to people messing up their lines and we also shot from multiple angles to get different perspectives on the scenes. Due to these factors we had a multitude of shots to choose from when it finally came to edit. The selection of shots was varied showing different techniques such as tracking ,mid and close up shots. In the film we tried to keep some characters centralised through the "Rule of Thirds", this was  mimicking the technique used in the short film The Gunfighter which was specifically successful with keeping the viewers attention  In the editing process there are some unnecessary cuts at points this was due to the fact that we couldn't get one collective take without someone making a mistake. We would of preferred to have filmed during dusk to night however due to  scheduling  issues and the fact that the sun sets very late in the day so we had to  make do with filming during the day. With our film being a horror, high amounts of high key lighting do not add to a horror setting therefore to build the tension in some scenes we used non-diegetic sound which was a lot of ambient sounds, the effect of this was successful in the final product specifically in the climactic scene where David is killed. When it came to mise-en-scene we dressed our antagonist in an old looking dress and used make up to make her look like a decaying corpse the effect of these aspects added a level of realism to the character and distinguish her from the rest of the cast. We also had multiple props specifically cameras this again added realism to the movie making the group more believably be a camera crew. However, one element of the mise-en-scene we would of liked to have improved was the setting which was meant to be an old abandoned building however we had to compromise for with just a regular building that had the look of being recently refurbished. The way we designed the house to give it any semblance of being decrepit or abandoned was with the use of sheets over furniture that appeared in any shots.

Finally, I believe the final product turned out successfully and was a better product then previous short films that I have produced the key factor to this was the script which meant that plot was more cemented, and the filming process was more structed making a more cohesive film in the end.
